submission | re:submission
In the early 2000s as the Athens metro was being expanded, a graffiti crew UDK and their comrades would make their ways underground to paint trains and get their name out of the tunnels and into the public domain. Expanding their horizons, they travelled to metro systems all over Europe. They captured all of these ‘actions’ on handheld cameras compiling over 100hrs of footage: documenting their journeys, interactions, failures and successes.
Bringing together these 5 years of experiences submission|re:submission aim to offer the viewer a journey and a re-understanding about the sub-culture of ‘Subway Bombing’.

A special edition (and the PericlesFilms! version) of ‘submission’ featuring a distorted soundscape by Sound Artist Manolis Manousakis. Utilising the original sounds from the minidv/hi8 tapes Manousakis gives depth, and an original form to the surroundings that the imagery takes us through.
